RESOLUTION NO. 102 -1990
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, OBJECTING TO SECRETARY
OF THE INTERIOR LUJAN'S PROCLAMATION CALLING FOR
STATE GOVERNMENT TO BUY OIL LEASES AND DIRECTING
THE CLERK OF THE COURTS TO SEND COPIES OF THIS
RESOLUTION TO SECRETARY OF INTERIOR LUJAN AND
GOVERNOR BOB MARTINEZ
WHEREAS, Secretary of the Interior Lujan has issued a
proclamation calling for state government to buy oil leases; and
WHEREAS, such oil drilling off the Florida Keys would be
detrimental to marine life, especially the coral reefs; and
WHEREAS, such oil drilling would increase the likelihood of
oil spills and groundings of oil tankers; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
Section 1.
That Monroe County obj ects to Secretary of
the Interior's Proclamation calling for state government to buy
oil leases.
Section 2.
That the Clerk of the Courts is directed to
send a copy of this resolution to Secretary of the Interior Lujan
and to Governor Bob Martinez.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 1~t:Jt day of t::j"t.tA"'~ 1990.
