RESOLUTION NO. 199-1990
~w~RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE ALLIANCE FOR
;2~NG OF DADE AND MONROE COUNTIES TO DO A
':tN~DS ASSESSMENT OF SERVICES FOR THE ELDERLY
oINLMONROE COUNTY THROUGH THE FLORIDA INTERNA-
TIONAL UNIVERSITY GERIATRIC PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Monroe County has a population of elderly (age 60
and over) of 18,000, and
WHEREAS, the Monroe County Department of Social Services has
several programs for the elderly:
nutrition program, in-home
program, transportation program, senior community employment
program, Bayshore Manor (ACLF) and welfare services, and
WHEREAS, the Monroe County Department of Social Services has
a budget of 3.5 Million Dollars to provide services for the
needy, elderly, and disabled, and
WHEREAS, the Monroe County Department of Social Services
receives various federal and state grants for programs for the
elderly, and
WHEREAS, the Monroe County Department of Social Services
requires a needs assessment to evaluate services for the elderly
in Monroe County, and
WHEREAS, the Florida International University Geriatric
Program conducts needs assessments, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, as follows:
1. The Alliance for Aging of Dade and Monroe Counties is
hereby requested to do a needs assessment for services for the
elderly in Monroe County through the Florida International
University Geriatric Program.
2. The Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to forward a
copy of this Resolution to the Alliance for Aging of Dade and
Monroe Counties.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the ~ day of ~. A.D. 1990.
