RESOLUTION NO. 229-1990
WHEREAS, Payrnent-In-Lieu-of-Taxes reimburses counties with
federal land holdings by the Department of Interior and the
Department of Agriculture on a per capita formula basis, and
WHEREAS, this in-lieu-of-taxes program enables counties with
large holdings of federal tax-exempt lands to provide services
required by the activities generated by those lands, and
WHEREAS, United States H.R. 519 proposes a mechanism to
provide for yearly increases to the PILT formulas by indexing for
inflation, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, desires to express its support for United States H.R.
519, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. The Board of County Commissioners hereby expresses its
general support for the indexing portion of Payrnents-In-Lieu-of-
Taxes - United States H.R. 519.
2. The Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to forward
copies of this resolution to the Honorable Dante Fascell, United
States Congressman, the Honorable Morris Udall, Chairman of the
House Interior Committee, and the Honorable Walter B. Jones,
Chairman of the House Merchant Marines and Fisheries Committee.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a special meeting of said Board held
on the ~ day of April, A.D. 1990.
