The City of Layton has a long history of providing firefighting service to the Cily Layton and the Long Key communities. However, due to the declining participation of volunteer firefighters and the increased demands to maintain firefighting proficiency, I request Monroe (county staff the city of Layton Fire Station with career firefighters at the soonest opportunity to provide for fire protection and emergency medical services: City of Layton volunteer personal will continue to provide service in support of Monroe County Fire Rescue.
