RESOLUTION NO. 214 -2011
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO INCLUDE NINE EXISTING
LOWER KEYS SHUTTLE SERVICE BUS SHELTER LOCATIONS
PREVIOUSLY MANAGED BY MONROE COUNTY INTO THE CITY
OF KEY WEST TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT'S BUS
SHELTER CONTRACT.
WHEREAS, Monroe County had a contract with Clear Channel Outdoor Advertising,
Inc. for installing and maintaining bus shelters and the contract was terminated by Clear
Channel effective May 17, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Nine of the bus shelters located in the Lower Keys and the City of Marathon serve
the Lower Keys Shuttle Bus Service that is operated by the City of Key West; and
WHEREAS, the City of Key West has a contract in place with Anderson Outdoor Advertising to
install bus shelters within The City Of Key West and the Lower Keys to service the Lower Keys Shuttle
Bus riders; and
WHEREAS, having the same contractor install and maintain all shelters within the service area
of the Lower Keys Shuttle will provide consistency in the type of shelter and the maintenance of said
shelters;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County, Florida, that the Board of County Commissioners requests:
1. The City of Key West and its contractor, Anderson Outdoor Advertising install and maintain
bus shelters at the nine shelter locations listed on Exhibit A attached and include those shelters in the
maintenance and inspection programs that are performed by the Contractor as part of its contract with the
City of Key West;
2. The revenue generated from advertising sales at the nine shelter locations will be used to oset _
the cost of operating the Lower Keys Shuttle Bus Service, a portion of which is funded bS%lot�e °
