A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA TO ALLOW THE USE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT
WEST MARTELLO TOWER FOR AN AWARENESS EVENT SPONSORED BY THE
KEY WEST WILD BIRD CENTER, INC.
WHEREAS, Monroe County Code of Ordinances, Section 18- 26(b)(2) states that the Board of
County Commissioners may waive the prohibition of alcoholic beverages on Higgs Beach County
Park on a per event basis to a nonprofit organization; and
WHEREAS, The Key West Wild Bird Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization is requesting to
sponsor an awareness event on Higgs Beach County Park, specifically, within the West Martello
Tower that includes the use of alcoholic beverages; and
WHEREAS, the awareness event is being coordinated with the Key West Garden Club, Inc. who
holds a lease for the property with Monroe County; and
WHEREAS, the event will provide the directors and volunteers of The Key West Wild Bird Center,
Inc. an opportunity to remind and educate the public of their mission of the rescue and
rehabilitation of primarily birds; and
WHEREAS, the highlight of the event will be to observe the release of rehabilitated birds back to
the wild; and
WHEREAS, all other activities and requirements for this event scheduled for March 8, 2015 shall
be the responsibility of the Key West Wild Bird Center, Inc. and the Key West Garden Club;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA THAT THE USE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED
FOR THE AWARENESS EVENT SPONSORED BY THE KEY WEST WILD BIRD CENTER, INC.
ON MARCH 8, 2015 AT WEST MARTELLO TOWER SECTION OF HIGGS BEACH COUNTY
PARK, KEY WEST, FLORIDA.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a
regular meeting of said Board held on the 18th day of February, 2015.
