RESOLUTION NO. 220 -2015
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
CONFIRMING THE COUNTY'S SUPPORT OF THE BIG PINE
KEY PARK PROJECT; SUPPORTING THE COASTAL
PARTNERSHIP INITIATIVE, THE FLORIDA COASTAL
MANAGEMENT PROGRAM OF THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMETAL PROTECTION; AND
ADVISING FDEP THAT THE COUNTY HAS THE ABILITY
TO PROVIDE THE LOCAL FUNDING SHARE NECESSARY
TO IMPLEMENT THE COASTAL PARTNERSHIP AND
MANAGEMENT 1NITITATIVE PROGRAMS IN WHICH THE
COUNTY ELECTS TO PARTICIPATE; PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, Monroe County's waterfront parks provide vital economic, recreational,
environmental and shore protection benefits to the State and Monroe County; and
WHEREAS, waterfront parks are critical and necessary for the benefit of Monroe
County's public and tourism; and
WHEREAS, the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners supports the beach and
coastal management programs of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection ( "FDEP "),
subject to the County's regulatory authority and Code of Ordinances; and
WHEREAS, the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution
for beach nourishment projects in July 15 2015 for which funding was requested from the
FDEP for sand nourishment above and below the mean high water line at Higgs Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners supports funding for
the Big Pine Key Park, which is a waterfront park; for which funding is requested from the
FDEP; and
WHEREAS, Monroe County is able to serve as a local sponsor and has the ability to
provide the local funding share necessary to implement the State coastal management projects in
which the County elects to participate; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: The Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County supports the
Florida Coastal Management Program.
Section 2: The Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County supports the
Florida Coastal Management Program of the FDEP, for which funding is requested from the
State of Florida, subject to the County's regulatory authority and Code of Ordinances.

Section 3: The Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County affirms its ability
to serve as local sponsor for such projects and is able to provide the appropriate local funding
share to implement state coastal management projects of the FDEP.
Section 4: This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida at a regular meeting of said Board on the 16`" day of September, 2015.
