AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval to advertise for sealed bids for the Runway 9 -27
Rehabilitation project at the Key West International Airport. The award of bid /contract for this
project is contingent upon anticipated receipt of an FAA grant (90 %), with a 5% match from Airport
Operating Fund 404 (to be fully reimbursed with PFC Application 417, when approved by the FAA).
The remaining 5% match is already in place under FDOT Grant G0I56.
ITEM BACKGROUND: The existing runway pavement is showing signs of distress and is
requiring increased maintenance. This project also consists of the conversion of the existing overrun
pavement to usable pavement for aircraft departures which will require the construction of concrete
pavement to accommodate the turning maneuver of aircraft.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On October 19, 2016, the BOCC approved FAA
Grant 37 -53, FDOT Grant GOE40 and Jacobs PSO 12/14 -69 for Runway Rehab. Design. On January
18, 2017, the BOCC approved FDOT Grant G0I56 for Runway Rehab. Construction
