AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of Agreement with FAST Solutions (Fastenal Automated
Supply Technology) to provide (at no cost to Monroe County) twenty (20) 12 -door locker units to
maintain inventory control in Fire Stations, and authorization for the Fire Chief to execute all
necessary documents.
ITEM BACKGROUND: Historically, MCFR has utilized multiple vendors to purchase and stock
inventory needed for day -to -day operations of the fire stations and other MCFR facilities. This
agreement with FAST Solutions (Fastenal) will provide value in the form of vendor consolidation,
reduced consumption, inventory control, reporting and reducing MCFR's Total Cost of Ownership
(TCO) by becoming a full line supplier. Standard inventory items will be maintained in the station
machines, and automatically replenished as used, or in accordance with pre - established "par" levels
put in place by MCFR logistics staff. Inventory will be shipped directly to each station or facility,
thereby eliminating the need for storage at MCFR headquarters, as well as eliminating the need to
receive, and then deliver the supplies to stations from Tavernier to Key West. This will save
considerable resources, time and travel expenses for the logistics personnel. Inventory use will be
monitored by automatically generated reports and can be tracked to the actual personnel using the
machine for disbursement.
