(Stearns Weaver) for legal services. ITEM BACKGROUND: The County is in need of specialized legal expertise as we proceed with the due diligence process and litigation with Marine Mammal Conservancy, Inc., in the United States Bankruptcy Court case of In re: Marine Mammal Conservancy, Inc. The firm of Stearns Weaver, and specifically Drew M. Dillworth who will be the primary attorney handling this matter, has experience in handling such complex matters and is being retained to assist in the protection of federal bankruptcy action. Mr. Dillworth has been very valuable and insightful in assisting legal staff on matters in connection with the bankruptcy case of Energy3, LLC, also in the United States Bankruptcy Court and has proven to have a level of expertise in this area that will be extremely beneficial to the County. This contract amendment retains previously County-negotiated rates per hour for Mr. Dillworth, associate counsel, and support staff.
