AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of a resolution naming the three members of the County
Commission designated by the Board to represent Monroe County on the Board of Governors of Fire
and Ambulance District 1 for 2019 as required by Ordinance No. 045-1988. TO BE HEARD PRIOR
TO THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS' CONVENING.
ITEM BACKGROUND: Ordinance No. 045-1988 provides that the Board of Governors of Fire
and Ambulance District 1 (BOG) shall consist of 3 members of the Board of County Commissioners
and, if only one city participates, two members of the governing body of the one city (either Key
Colony Beach or the City of Layton); or, if both cities participate, one member of the governing
body from each city. The ordinance further requires that the designation of members to the BOG by
the County and the participating city (cities) be done by resolution.
The City of Layton has advised their current three (3) representatives for 2018: Mayor Bruce Halle,
Vice-Mayor Greg Lewis and Alternate Jeff Meeks.
The attached resolution reflects the names of the three (3) Commissioners designated by the Board at
their 12/19/18 meeting who were selected to be members of the Board of Governors of Fire and
Ambulance District 1 representing the County Commission for 2019, namely Commissioners
Kolhage, Rice and Murphy. This item
convened at the BOCC 1/23/19 meeting as the BOG will be electing the Chairperson and Vice-
Chairperson of the BOG for 2019 at the BOCC 1/23/19 meeting.
Adoption of this resolution by the Board satisfies the requirements for the designation of three
County Commissioners to the BOG pursuant to Ordinance No. 045-1988.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
1/17/18 (C1) BOCC adopted Resolution No. 023-2018 designating Commissioners Neugent, Rice
and Kolhage to serve as the (3) members representing the County Commission on the BOG.
