AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval to issue a bid solicitation for Airport Perimeter Fence
Maintenance, Repair and Modification Services at the Key West International Airport.
ITEM BACKGROUND: The current perimeter fence maintenance contract will expire on May 17,
2019. This solicitation will ensure that the airport maintains an on-call fencing contractor for
immediate response for routine and emergency fence repairs in order to maintain compliance with
Transportation Security Administration mandates. The airport will also be able to capitalize on the
reduced unit pricing associated with a multi-year contract.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
On July 15, 2015, the BOCC granted approval to advertise for bids for a fence contractor. On May
16, 2016, the BOCC awarded the bid/contract to Island Fence. On April 12, 2017, the BOCC
renewed the contract for one year, and on March 21, 2018, the BOCC approved the final one-year
renewal option.
