ITEM BACKGROUND: A brief presentation will be provided on the status of year to date removal of marine debris in unincorporated Monroe County, Marathon and Islamorada. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: 05/16/18: Discussion and direction and retroactive approval to submit a Request for Proposals (RFP) for marine debris removal and related services, which will be used to perform work funded by a grant in the amount of $45.8 million from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) program, if awarded, to cover removal of marine debris created by Hurricane Irma from canals and nearshore waters in unincorporated Monroe County, City of Marathon and Village of Islamorada, with a 25% County match. 07/18/18: Approval to enter into a contract with the 41 ranked vendor, Adventure Environmental, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $35 Million, for removal of marine debris created by Hurricane Irma from canals in unincorporated Monroe County, City of Marathon and Village of Islamorada; also, authority to negotiate and enter into a contract with the next highest vendor(s), in rank order, if necessary. 08/15/18: Approval to enter into a Amendment No. 1 to a contract with Adventure Environmental, Inc., for removal of marine debris created by Hurricane Irma from canals in unincorporated Monroe County, City of Marathon and Village of Islamorada; to modify the amount of the bond; and approval for the County Administrator to execute the Amendment and future documents. 09/19/18: Presentation on status of Hurricane Irma marine debris removal from canals in unincorporated Monroe County, City of Marathon and Village of Islamorada. 11/20/18: Presentation on status of Hurricane Irma marine debris removal from canals in Packet Pg. 558 D.1 unincorporated Monroe County, City of Marathon and Village of Islamorada.
