A RESOLUTION BY THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AUTHORIZING THE
WRITE-OFF OF THE SOLID WASTE ACCOUNTS
RECEIVABLE.
WHEREAS, Monroe County Solid Waste Management department provides pollution control
throughout unincorporated Monroe County to deal with illegal dumping, while assisting with county
land clearing and cleaning removal of county owned property; and
WHEREAS, in 2017, the County through its road department staff conducted land clearing
and cleaning of Construction and Debris (C&D) from 574 Hazel Street, in Key Largo with removal
and disposal completed by Monroe County Solid Waste Management's pollution control staff; and
WHEREAS, the cost to remove and dispose of the C&D waste (96.61 tons), cost $11,931.38,
which has been charged and accounted as an outstanding balance on the Solid Waste account number
1017, which was anticipated to be paid by the property owner when the land was to be purchased; and
WHEREAS, ownership of property transferred to Florida Key Aqueduct Authority as of
March 5. 2019 and therefore the Solid Waste Management Department seeks to write-off$11,931.38
and absorb the costs through its pollution control fund;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA:
I. That the Amount of$11,931.38 be written off and deleted as an outstanding balance on the
Solid Waste account number 1017.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, at a regular meeting held on the 17th day of March,2021.
