Dear George,
As a followup to our conversation yesterday, I need to resign from the Planning Commission
due to family committments over the summer. I have enjoyed the challenge of serving art this
board for the last 18 months and would love to serve again after August, if another vacancy
were to open. Thanks for your confidence in me and keep up the good work on the BOCC.

Re: Planning Commission Appointment
I have been gone for the past ten days and discovered the possible appointment of
Mr. David Ritz to the Planning CommissioD. I bave been vCIy impressed with your
representation of our county gowmment. especially as leader oftlIe DOCC .
I hope that any consideration of Mr. Ritz as a member of the planning Commission is a
rwnor. My 011ly direct experience with Mr. Ritz was last year after the sniiftour when I
was concerned about water re-use from the Ogden sewer plan. Two caUs and messages
of inquiry about Ocean Reef Club's golf courses and their water consumption went
uoaoswered. Of course I know they are a private gated community and so I felt that he
might liave thougb~ "none of my business". I hope not. But, I doubt I will run into him
at any local breaJd8st spot$ on KA=y Largo.
I also believe that Mr. Ritz editorialized for more affordable housing units in K.ey Largo
to benefit workers at Ocean Reef Club. When lIast checked, CBId Sound Road to
Florida City was approximately 10 miles. This is a hot button issue fur resideDts of Key
Largo.
In my short time back from my vacation, I have information that Mr. Riu may be proue
to getting OD boards and conunittees ror specific reasons relating to Ocean Reef Club. His
stint on the Historical Society lasted about. six months--about the time it took to get the
designation he wanted in Ocean R.eef Club. Then I am told he quit.
I cannot for the life of me figure how an administrator of a community with no
Commercial Moratorium and no ROGO can be appointed to a County planning board
making decisions about Key Largo's ROOO and NROGO.
I would like to recommend to you Mr. Ed Kolosky. a 3o-year resident and contractor and
past member of the Planning Commission to represent our area of Key Largo. His past
experience may be just what we need in these changing times of critical concerns to the
residents of .Key Largo.
