AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval to reject all bids for a new Solid Waste Management Computer System.
ITEM BACKGROUND: On March 1,2001, two bids were received in response to our request for a new Solid Waste
Management computer system for non-ad valorem assessment and certification. Both bids were reviewed by staff
and determined to be higher in cost than anticipated. A modification of our current system, with the assistance being
offered by the Property Appraiser's office, should provide us with the needed data base at a much lower cost.
In addition, since the process to increase residential rates includes mailing out first-class notices to all residential
property owners, staff recommendation is that we solicit proposals from companies to handle the first-class notice
requirements this year, while our current system is being modified and updated.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On 1/17/01 the BOCC authorized advertising of a request for bids for a
new Solid Waste Management computer system.
