Some items are open for input from Commissioners. I. The Board of County Commissioners should initiate the process by instructing the County Administrator to prepare an advertisement to be placed in appropriate media. 2. The advertisement should include, but not be limited to: a) full time staff attorney, no private practice; b) substantial legal experience, especially in public sector law; c) salary $100,000 per year plus County benefits; d) familiarity with Monroe County and the types of legal problems faced; e) listing of the type of legal, managerial, and administrative responsibilities included with the position. 3. The recruitment process should be overs~n by a five person committee consisting of a *prominent local citizen (upper, middle and lowers keys), the County Administrator, and a prominent local attorney. * Just my line of thinking of how this could work. Possible pool of candidates: David Ritz, Lynn Mapes, Denise Werling, Jerry Wilkinson 4. After reviewing applications and conducting interviews, the committee will submit a report the Board of County Commissioners, including a list of up to three (3) finalists to be publicly interviewed by the full Board of County Commissioners. If the committee feels there is one clearly superior applicant, it may so recommend to the BOCC. The committee and County staff will complete background and reference checks. 5. The Board of County Commissioners will select one applicant to be the next County Attorney and so vote at a BOCC meeting. 6. The County Administrator will complete all necessary administrative details.
