Approval of a resolution designating the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners as the
selection committee for the County Attorney and instruction to staff to solicit applications from which
the BOCC will review and make a selection.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
In order to hire a County Attorney, who is compatible with the BOCC and upon whom the BOCC can
depend and trust, it is necessary that the BOCC review and interview those applicants solicited by staff,
who have the qualifications to perform the job and select the successful candidate from these
applicants.

A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA AS THE COUNTY ATTORNEY SELECfION
COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) is the client of the county
Attorney; and
WHEREAS, it is of the utmost importance that the Board be able to trust and depend
on the individual selected as County Attorney; and
WHEREAS, the best way for the Board to select a County Attorney that the Board can
trust and depend on is to review all applications and interview the applicants; now,
therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA that:
The Board declares that it shall function as the County Attorney selection committee.
The Board shall have County staff solidt COunty Attorney applications. The Board shall
then review those applications, select the individuals to be interviewed, and make the final
determination as to the new County Attorney.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 17th day of April, 2002.
