The County undertook searches for an appropriate individual to lead the Department of Technical Services through the next few years. This individual will be responsible for completing a five (5) year technology program to be presented to the Administration and the Board of County Commissioners and for maintaining the daily services throughout the County system in the variety of technological areas directed by the department. After extensive advertising and interviewing, the Administrator is recommending Mr. Todd Erickson, a resident of the Keys, to be the new Director. Mr. Erickson brings a wide variety of experiences and background to the position and perhaps, most importantly, an energy and creativity that will be extremely important in moving the County's technology forward. Mr. Erickson, as did other finalists, spent a significant amount of time with the current Acting Director and in the County's major locations to review the County's systems. Mr. Erickson is very familiar with the types of systems that are utilized in the County and has substantial experience with managing both computer and telephonic networks. In the years the Administrator has been with Monroe County, the County has moved from its old AS400 computer system into a PC-based network system. The telephonic system has been expanding to meet the needs of the County over a 100+ mile distance. Now that the County has established a technological base, Mr. Erickson's experience, energy and creativity should move the County to the next level over the next few years. 155 TORTUGA LANE.
