ITEM BACKGROUND: On June 27, 2000 FEMA promulgated rule making establishing a flood inspection program in Monroe County pursuant to a recommendation by the Monroe County Citizens Task Force as a means of compliance with the Floodplain Management Criteria. The BOCC committed to the implementation of the inspection program on February 13, 2002. Chapter 125.56(2) Florida Statutes allows for the BOCC to provide fees to defer the costs of inspection and enforcement of the codes. It is fair and equitable to charge a fee for this service. Resolution No. 229A-2000 is hereby amended to reflect correct citations in the Monroe County Code and to include new (5) in subsection (g) below: A fee of $50.00 shall be assessed for an inspection performed for a property owner of unincorporated Monroe County for the purpose of verifying that a structure insured under the National Flood Insurance Program is compliant with the Floodplain Management Ordinance and eligible for renewal of or application for flood insurance.
