ITEM BACKGROUND:
Frequently when applications are submitted to grant funding agencies, they require a specific resolution
providing signature authority to the person signing the grant application. At its last meeting, the Board
approved a grant application through the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which requires
such a resolution. The minutes of the meeting approving the submission of the grant by the Board are not
sufficient. This resolution would grant signature authority only for grant applications, which have been
approved by the Board.

RESOLUTION NO. 2002
A RESOLUTION OF THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR OR
HIS DESIGNEE TO SIGN GRANT APPLICATIONS FOR APPLICATIONS
APPROVED FOR SUBMITTAL BY THE BOARD.
WHEREAS, Board of County Commissioners approved submission of a grant to the
FBIP to assist in making improvements to boat ramps in Monroe County; and
WHEREAS, many grant programs, including the FBIP grant program require a resolution
authorizing the individual signing the grant to be specifically authorized" for signature by the
legally authorized governmental body, in this case the Board of County Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, the Board generally supports receipt of FBIP and other grant funds for
specified marine projects and purposes approved by the Board.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS, MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA THAT:
The County Administrator or his designee is authorized to sign grant applications approved by
the Board.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners, Monroe County,
Florida at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 15th day of Mav . A.D., 2002.
