ITEM BACKGROUND: Approval of requests for Asset Forfeiture Funds to be used for the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches to support the "Harmony in the Streets" mobile community day camp for children and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Keys Area, Inc. to support the organization's upcoming fundraising event in order to furnish their building, expand its programs and continue need-based scholarships. The Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches objective is to reach at-risk youth to prevent juvenile delinquency and to help develop responsible and productive citizens. The summer camp will be offered at no cost in Monroe County. The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Keys Area, inc. assists local families in Monroe County during the summer offering youth programs daily from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: At the September 16, 2020, the BOCC approved a budget amendment to accommodate the new directive issued by the Department of Justice and the Department of Treasury to transition the Sheriffs equitable sharing accounts to the county finance offices. Our members'families have had a number of issues,and The Club operated at reduced attendance levels because of Covid. We did no find raising in 76 2020,but PPP funds from the Government buoyed our cashfiow. In January 2021,we moved from Reynolds Street to newly renovated 1313 Virginia,adjacent to Bayview �-- Park. Past fundraisers generated'funds for the build out. Now,the Club needs to furnish the building,expand programs,and continue need-based scholarships. The Club expects to operate from 7:30 AM to 6:00 � PM this summer—supporting your workers in Key West. Our first fundraiser event in almost 2 years will be Saturday,June 26 at The Sunset Green Lawn, The Keys Collection generously donated the space and is partnering with us.
