ITEM BACKGROUND: South Bay Harbor and North Bay Harbor Drives in the Bay Harbor Subdivision and Sunset Road and Sunset Court in the Sunset Point Subdivision in Key Largo are located in a residential neighborhood that also contains two small county parks. Park users frequently park vehicles and boat trailers on the shoulder of the roads, which causes traffic problems, safety issues and difficulty for residents entering and leaving driveways. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: At the June 16, 2021 meeting the BOCC directed staff to develop alternatives to reduce impacts to this area due to parking on the roadways. THE BAY HARBOR AND SUNSET POINT SUBDIVISIONS, KEY LARGO, W FLORIDA. WHEREAS, pursuant to Monroe County Code Sec. 25-27, the Board of County Commissioners may restrict or prohibit the parking, standing or stopping of vehicles along county roads; and s WHEREAS, South Bay Harbor Drive, North Bay Harbor Drive, Sunset Road and Sunset Court are county roads located in Key Largo; and WHEREAS, the roads are in the vicinity of Sunset Point Park and an unnamed park on c Bay Harbor Drive, which are both county parks in a residential neighborhood; and z 0 WHEREAS, park users frequently park vehicles and boat trailers on the shoulder of the roads, which is causing traffic flow and safety issues; and WHEREAS, the designated no parking area would be posted with"No Parking" signs as required by Sec. 25-27, Monroe County Code; c. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA THAT: 1. The roads in the Bay Harbor and Sunset Point Subdivisions Key Largo, Florida, shall be designated as a no parking, standing or stopping area. s 2. The designated area shall be posted with the appropriate "No Parking" signage as required by Monroe County Code Sec. 25-27.
