AGENDA ITEM WORDING:
Consideration of policy not to distribute gasoline taxes under the Agreement with the City of Marathon
until the City has paid to the County $541,000 owed for solid waste services.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
After the incorporation of the City of Marathon, the City and County entered into an Interlocal
Agreement whereby the County agreed to provide up to $1 million for improvements to the Boot Key
Bridge, Subsequently, the City asked the County to consider allowing the use of their money for public
purposes such as road maintenance, The County agreed and an amended Agreement was passed, In
the interim, the City has built up a debt of solid waste expenses covering June through October, 2003,
which have not been paid to date, The Mayor feels that this issue should be discussed by the County
Connnission.
