RESOLUTION NO. -2004
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
REQUESTING FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION TO PROVIDE IN THEIR CONTRACT
DOCUMENTS FOR THE USl/SRS/OVERSEAS HIGHWAY
BRIDGE CROSSING JEWFISH CREEK & LAKE SURPRISE
PROJECT THAT FILL REMOVED FROM PROJECT
LOCATION REMAIN IN MONROE COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the USI/SR5/0verseas Highway Bridge Crossing Jewfish Creek & Lake SUIpl"ise Project
will result in the removal of substantial till to provide for the better flow of water. and
WHEREAS, said project is located enrirely within Monroe County, Florida; and
and
WHEREASt the Florida Keys are in grave need offill to elevate sites to meet tlood.plain requirements;
WHEREASt in order to provide more efficient and better services to the residents of and visitors to the
Florida Keys, Momoe County has scheduled numerous capital projects, including but not limited to the construction
offive new fire stations, a medical examiner's facility and recreation areas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VEn BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, TIiA T:
1. Monroe County hereby requests the Florida Department of Transportation to provide in their
contract documents for the US lISRS/Overseas Highway Bridge Crossing Jewfish Creek & Lake
Surprise Project that fill removed from the project site remain in Monroe County {or use by
Monroe County for its planned and budgeted capital projects and future pU!'pOses as the County
deems fulfills a public need.
2. This Resolution shall become effective upon the date of its adoption herein.
3. The Clerk is directed to mail copies of this resolution to the Secretary oftbe Florida Department of
Transportation and the Florida Department of Transportation, District 6 Director.
