AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval to issue a purchase order to Insight Public Sector/Insight
Corporate Solutions in the total amount of$98,010.74 under State Contract 250-000-03-01. The dollar
amount includes the purchase of, installation of, and mounts for Mobile Computer Terminals (MCTs)
for Monroe County Fire Rescue's (MCFR) emergency rescue units.
ITEM BACKGROUND: MCFR currently does not have an electronic method for dispatching units.
The method to obtain accurate times for calls to service or Sheriff Department incident report numbers
must be done upon completion of the call by telephone, which results in delays and interruption to the
dispatcher. The MCTs have mapping capabilities which will provide all emergency vehicles
verification of addresses, incident particulars, and unit status confirmation thereby assuring efficient
responses and safety of personnel.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On January 15,2003 the Board of County
Commissioners granted approval to submit an EMS Rural Grant Application to the Florida Department
of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services to fund EMS related equipment and training and to
have the applications signed by the proper County authorities. On July 15, 2003 and October 15,2003
the Board approved resolutions for the transfer of funds and resolutions for the receipt of unanticipated
revenue.
