CWSING OF THE NORTHBOUND LANES OF US 1 FROM :M1\<1 98.2 TO MM
100 FROM 10 AM TO 11:30 Ai'\I. ON THE 4TH OF .IULY, 2005.
WHEREAS, The Reporter Newspaper annually sponsors the 4th of lulyParade in Tavemier~
and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to temporarily dose the Northbound Lanes of US I from Mr\4 982
at Anthony's Clothing Store to MM 100 at the Holiday Inn from 10 AM to 11:30 M1 for the Parade~
and
WHEREAS, the 4th of July Parade usually has between 65 and 70 floats, groups, bands, etc.~
and
'WHEREAS, the 4th of July Parade attracts thousands of residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, The Florida Department of Transportation has requested that Monroe County also
authorize the closure as stated herein; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF COlJNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA hereby authorizes the closing of the Northbound Lanes of US 1 from MJ\1982
at Anthony's Clothing Store to fviM 100 at the Holiday Inn from lOAM to 11 :30 AM for the Annual
4tl:i of July Parade sponsored by The Reporter Newspaper.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 18th day of May, 2005.

Attached please find the application ternpomry rood closure/rerouting of traffic for
State Road 905 on Monday, July 4, 2005.
The ptlI'pOSC of the planned road closure is the annuai July 41t' Parade through Key
Largo.
The parade begins at lOam. 'h1.th a duration of approx:imately one and one>-halfhours,
beginning at AhP.ay Street and U.S. 1 in Key Largo and proceeding to a conclusion at the
Waldorf' Plaza-Holiday Inn area
Traffic from the northbound land ofRS~905 is rerouted vi.a Grand Street at the south,
through the southbound traffi;;; lanes ofSR905, which is converted to two lanes of travel.
Standard traffic is reestablished at Laguna Avenue.
TIn'OughouI the par'ade roule, marked Sheriff s Office units., pius unifonned officers
plus the Key Largo Fire Police and Florida Highway Patrol regulate the flow of traffic.
Units ",ill be positioned at various intersections and traffic crossovers to ensure traffic
integrity as well as pedestrian safety.
Where necessary, cones and other signaling devices \...i11 be established to facilimre the
smoofu flO\v of veiUcu.lar traffic through the areas that are rerouted.
