AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of Contract Amendment with William P. Horn Architect,
P.A. for North Key Largo Fire Station.
ITEM BACKGROUND: The original budget for the North Key Largo Fire Station was $1.2 million,
Based on this amount the Architectural/Engineering fee was $85,200. Now, the construction cost has
been established in the amount of $2,030,500. Using this new amount, the Architectural/Engineering
fee changes to $138,074.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On March 19, 2003, BOCC approved the contract with
William P. Horn Architect, P.A. to perform Architect/Engineering services for North Key Largo Fire
Station for a fee of 7.1 % of the estimated construction cost of $1.2 million. Fee=$85,200.
CONTRACT/AGREEMENT CHANGES: Amend Subparagraph 8.1.1 as follows: Deleted: "An
estimated construction cost of $1.2 million and a fee percentage of 7.1 % shall initially be used to
calculate the Architectural fee. When the actual construction cost is known, the fee will be adjusted in
accordance with the State of Florida, Department of Management Services, Division of Building
Construction Fee Schedule for Architectural and Engineering Services."
Replaced with: "A construction cost of $2,030,500 and a fee percentage of 6.8% shall be used to
calculate the Architectural fee.
