(AMS). AMS has agreed to modify the unit to meet the housing requirements of Chief Martin, These modifications are the addition of a shower in the restroom, a small kitchen and an exterior door with steps to the common area so that entry is not through one of the sleeping rooms. Other suppliers were contacted in an attempt acquire additional bids for this need. GE Capital Modular Space was one of the suppliers responding to my request but stated that they are unwilling to modify their units to meet our requirements. Williams Scotsman, a supplier of construction office units, initially responded with information on there products became non-responsive after a request for mod ification. Originally Chief Martin stated that he had made arrangements to house his men in a near by structure. Those arrangements fell through and our department was notified of the need for housing. This item was being handled by our Project Architect before his resignation. The project is now at the stage of issuing the NTP we have little time to spare and I have spent much time in an attempt to locate other suppliers that service the Keys and feel that we need to move on this issue in an attempt to meet the start of construction on this project Please let me know if I can proceed with getting a lease with AMS.
