In November of 1992 he was promoted to operations shift supervisor for Monroe County EMS, a position which he held for over two years. During his tenure with the department in the capacity ofEMT/Paramedic, Mr. Powers has continued his education and attended many EMS-related classes such as: Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Air Crew Certification, Advanced Airway Management of Critical Patients, Interpretation of 12 Lead EKG's, and Basic Trauma Life Support. He attended the first Monroe County Fire Academy and received State certification as a firefighter in July of 1999. Since that time Mr. Powers has also continued his fire education by completing such classes as Fire Service Apparatus Operator and Fire Service Hydraulics. Mr. Powers' personnel file is overflowing with letters of commendation from supervisors, patients, hospital personnel, hospital administrators, and even the general public, all praising him for the conscientious dedication he displays to his patients and his community. Mr. Powers has been and continues to be a valuable asset to Monroe County Fire Rescue and his community. We are proud to honor him with this length of service award.
