AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval to waive purchasing policy bid process and to
piggyback on a previously awarded competitive bid, issued for Key West International Airport
to Quality Communications, Inc., for similar security work for the Emergency Operations
Center (EOC) to be paid for by a Homeland Security Grant.
ITEM BACKGROUND: The US Department of Homeland Security, through the Florida
Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), has awarded Monroe County a grant for security and
other enhancements at the EOC in Marathon.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On August 1, 2002, the Key West International
Airport solicited sealed bids for "Security/ Safety Items-Phase II: Proxy Card, Terminal baggage
Security Doors, automatic Gate 4 Modifications, Closed Circuit TV System and security/Fire
Alarm System Key West International Airport Monroe County, Florida" #BID-3213-152-0-
2002/LC; the bid was awarded to Quality Communications on December 18, 2002.
On May 18th, 2005 the BOCC approved the application for the Homeland Security Grant.
