INC. WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys, Inc., hereinafter referred to as Habitat, has successfully finished affordable housing projects and provided major home repairs and renovations to assist disadvantaged and low-income people in acquiring and maintaining affordable home ownership: and WHEREAS. Habitat has, for a number of years. been a major presence in the Lower Keys in as."isting with hurricane clean-up and repairs to private properties; and WHEREAS, in Monroe County did collaborate with Habitat to provide a property as a base of operations in exchange for the tremendou', benefit Habitat brings to the County in constructing affordable housing for the workforce; and WHEREAS, Habitat worked enthusiastically throughout the 2005 hurricane season to bring normalcy back to areas affected by four hurricanes, the Jast being Hurricane Wilma, which left considerable destruction in its path; and WHEREAS, Habitat accommodated a FEMA disaster recovery center and continues to work with FEMA and a variety of agencies to assist the citizens of Monroe County in putting their houses back to habitable condition, obtain replacement transportation. and all aspects of recovery after a natural disaster; and WHEREAS. Habitat has provided access by all families in their time of need to numerous services in the Lower Keys; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FWRlDA: S<<tiOD 1: Hereby adopts this Resolution as an expression of great appreciation for the extensive service that Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys. Inc.. has given to this community. Section 2: This Resolution shall become effective on the date written below. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a meeting of said Board hcJd on the 21st day of December, A.D., 2005.
