Resolution 471-2021 RESOLUTION NO. 471 —2021
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, APPROVING A FACE COVERING
POLICY IN ALL PUBLIC AREAS OF THE KEY WEST
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
WHEREAS,Monroe County owns the Key West International Airport(Airport); and
WHEREAS, on November 9, 2021 the Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) e-mailed
the Director of Airports informing him that the Airport was being awarded an Airport Rescue
Program Grant along with a copy of the grant agreement, grant#3-12-0037-068-2022; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to the authority granted him in Resolution#288-2021,the Director
of Airports executed and returned the grant to the FAA; and
WHEREAS, as a condition of the grant the BOCC as the governing body of the Airport
(otherwise referred to as the Sponsor by the FAA) is required to implement a face-covering mask
policy in all public areas of the Airport; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Resolution#288-2021,the grant is being placed on the December
8, 2021 regular meeting agenda for ratification by the BOCC.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Board hereby directs the Director of Airports to implement a face-covering mask
policy in accordance with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Transportation Security
Administration(TSA)requirements in all public areas of the Airport.
Section 2. The face-covering mask requirement shall continue until Executive Order 13998,
Promoting COVID-19 Safety in Domestic International Travel, is no longer effective.
PASSED AND ACCEPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, at a meeting of said Board held on the 8th day of December, 2021.
