AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval to appoint Rosemary Thomas to the Planning
Commission, as the District 4 Representative, for a term effective May 13, 2022 to December 19,
2022. Ms. Thomas will fulfill the remaining portion of the term of William Wiatt who submitted his
resignation effective May 13, 2022.
ITEM BACKGROUND: Rosemary Thomas has extensive business management experience,
spending the final years of her career as the Vice President/General Manager for Xerox, North
American Operations. She is retired, and has lived in Marathon since 2005. She has served on the
KAIR Board of Directors, (2006-2010), and President of Marathon Garden Club, (2011-2015), and
currently serves as President, (2021-2023). She served on the Board of Directors, Newark/Wayne
Hospital Foundation, NY (2017-2021). She was Vice-President of the Water Quality Board of Sodus
Point, NY (2003-2005). She served as the Commodore to the Marathon Yacht Club, (2020).
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: The BOCC approved the reappointment of William
Wiatt, as the District 4 representative, to the Planning Commission on December 17, 2018 for a
4-year term, to coincide with Commi
William Wiatt was originally appointed to the Planning Commission in 2010, a second term in 2014,
and his third term December 2018, serving eleven and a half years. His resignation was submitted
February 23, 2022 and is effective on May 13, 2022.
