Resolution 136-2022RESOLUTION NO. 136 - 2022
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, REVISING SECTION 6.01 OF THE
PERSONNEL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES MANUAL REGARDING
OBSERVANCE OF THE JUNETEENTH NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE DAY
FEDERAL HOLIDAY.
WHEREAS, Section 6.01 (Official Holidays) of the Personnel Policies and Procedures
Manual (PPPM) currently provides a list of twelve (12) holidays that shall be observed by all
County offices in which functions can be discontinued without adversely affecting required
services to the public; and
WHEREAS, June 19 is now officially Juneteenth National Independence Day, a US Federal
Holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners most recently revised the holiday policy on
December 11, 2019 via adoption of Resolution 441-2019, which described how and when
Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve holidays are observed.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners now wishes to revise section 6.01 of the
Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual in order to observe Juneteenth as a county holiday;
and
