A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY
ADMINISTRATOR OR HIS DESIGNEE TO APPROVE AND EXECUTE
ROUTINE LIBRARY CLOSURES OR ALTERATIONS IN HOURS OF
OPERATIONS.
WHEREAS,the Monroe County Public Library Director periodically finds the need to close or alter
the posted hours of operations of one or more library branch (branch) in its system for a specified period
of time, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) routinely receives requests from the
Library Director for a periodic one-day closure of one or more branch in the Monroe County Public Library
System, and periodically receives similarly requests for an alteration from the posted hours of operation
for one or more branch in the system, and
WHEREAS, currently,the Board must approve all such closure requests of branches in the system
resulting in undo delays and unnecessarily adding items to the Board agenda, and
WHEREAS,the Board desires to eliminate the unnecessary delay and the added congestion to the
Board agenda, now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
HEREBY:
1. Finds that temporary modifications to the standard days and hours of operation of one or more
branch within the County System, previously approved and accepted by the Board are indeed
routine matters that do not need to go before the Board for approval prior to execution.
2. Authorizes the County Administrator or his designee to approve such closures and
communications as required to temporarily modify the days and hours of operation following
review by the County Attorney's office.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida,at a meeting
of said Board held on the 19th day of October 2022.
