In November of 1995, Ms, Barker was promoted to the position of Assistant Director of the Office of Management and Budget. In 1997, she entered into the Human Resources field where she served as the Senior Director of the Human Resources Department and later on also serving as the Acting Director of Management and Budget. In 2002, these two Departments were reorganized and became the Division of Management Services where Ms. Barker was appointed as the Division Director. In October of 2005, Ms. Barker became the Division Director of Community Services where she presently oversees the Departments of Social Services, Extension Services, the County Libraries, Animal Control and serves as the Liaison to the Florida Keys Council for People with Disabilities. This list of promotions demonstrates your abilities and efforts in providing outstanding service to the Board of County Commissioners and citizens of Monroe County. One of Ms. Barker's accomplishments during her eleven year tenure with Monroe County that she is extremely proud of is that she has never once called in sick. Ms. Barker is a member of the Florida Keys Society for Human Resource Management, past Vice-President for the Monroe County Personnel Association, and a past participant of Toastmasters. Sheila, we thank you for your eleven years of dedicated servICe to Monroe County. OUf best wishes for a happy retirement.
