AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval to negotiate with the Middle Keys Experimental
Aircraft Association, Inc. (EAA) for a site at the Florida Keys Marathon Airport for an Aviation
Museum
ITEM BACKGROUND: The EAA have requested a site at the airport for a Museum and from
which to conduct other aeronautical activities. The EAA maintains an active presence at the
airport and have displays to promote aviation in the passenger terminal building. Their current
activities include: The Young Eagles Program, sponsoring FAA Safety Seminars, sponsoring
Flight Scholarships to local youth, maintaining aeronautical displays, and the introduction of a
"Seniors Fly Safer Program" which has received national attention and recognition from the
Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: The HOCC at their June 2000 meeting granted
approval for the EAA to place displays to promote aviation in the Florida Keys Marathon
Airport Terminal, pending a lease agreement of no monetary value.
