AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval to reject all bids and to re -advertise for sealed bids for
Rolling Door replacement at the Marathon Garage and the Monroe County Detention Center on Stock
Island.
ITEM BACKGROUND: Three bids were received at the March 17, 2009, bid opening. Two bids
were above budget and the third bidder did not provide required information. it is requested that all
bids be rejected and the project be re -bid with additional value engineering.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On June 18, 2008, and August 20, 2008, the BOCC
approved Federally Funded Sub -grant Agreements with the State of Florida Division of Emergency
Management providing hazardous mitigation grant funding for the Marathon Garage Overhead Door
Wind Retrofit Project and the Monroe County Detention Center Overhead Door Wind Retrofit Project.

FLEET
Three bids were received on March 17, 2009 for the Rolling Door
Replacement - MCDC & Marathon Fleet as follows:
Door Systems of South Florida $66,630.00
Glodix Construction Corp. $49,000.00
Above All Doors $41,200.00
The budgeted amount for this project is $41,772.00. Due to the low
bidder not providing information required under Tab 1 and Tab 4 of
the bid documents, they are considered non -responsive. With the
other two bids received being above the 2006-budgeted amount, it is
requested that all bids be rejected and approval provided to re -bid this
project with additional value engineering.
