AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of Award of Bid to Weathertrol Maintenance Corporation
for the HVAC Equipment Replacement project at the Florida Keys Marathon Airport, in the total
amount of $466,111.00
ITEM BACKGROUND: Bids for the HVAC Equipment Replacement at the Florida Keys Marathon
Airport were opened on March 12, 2009. The project provides for replacement of the HVAC System,
Bid Alternate #1: Contractor shall warranty labor, materials and equipment for a period of five (5)
years from completion of the first year guarantee required in the contract documents, and Bid Alternate
#2: 5-Year Maintenance/Service Contract on the entire HVAC system. There were seven (7) bids
received. URS, Airport Consultants, has reviewed the bids and recommends that Weathertrol
Maintenance Corporation, the low bidder, be awarded the HVAC Equipment Replacement Project.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: At the meeting on November 19, 2008, Board granted
approval to advertise a Notice of Calling for Bids for HVAC Equipment Replacement at the Florida
Keys Marathon Airport. On August 20, 2008, Board granted approval to reject all bids due to
irregularities.

The bids provided to URS Corporation for the referenced project have been reviewed and
tabulated (See attachment.)
Based on the bid proposals, URS recommends the low bidder Weathertrol Maintenance
Corporation in the amount of $ 466,111.00.
Subject to the County's concurrence in the bid recommendation to award, it is
recommended that Weathertrol Maintenance Corporation be awarded the HVAC
Equipment Replacement project.
