Approval of a resolution urging the citizens of Monroe County to adopt Monday, November 2, 2009 as
Halloween Trick or Treat Night for the children of Monroe County.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
The City Commission passed Resolution No. 09-226 dated September 1, 2009 urging the citizens of
Key West to adopt Monday, November 2"d as Halloween Trick or Treat Night for the children of Key
West. This resolution urges that the citizens of Monroe County coincide with the City of Key West in
observation of Halloween Trick Treat Night.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
In 1998, the Fantasy Fest Parade was held on Halloween Trick or Treat Night, the City of Key West
urged citizens to change the trick or treat night date and the BOCC granted approval to coincide the
observation with the City of Key West.

NIGHT FOR THE CHILDREN OF MONROE COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the citizens have a concern that a scheduling conflict with the Fantasy Fest Parade on
Saturday, October 315t will interfere with children's safety and enjoyment of Halloween; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Key West, Florida passed Resolution No. 09-226
dated September 1, 2009 urging the citizens of Key West to adopt Monday, November 2nd as
Halloween Trick or Treat Night for the children of Key West;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA THAT;
1. The citizens of Monroe County are urged to adopt Monday, November 2"d as Halloween
Trick or Treat Night for the children of Monroe County to coincide with the City of Key
West.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a
regular meeting of said Board held on the 21st day of October, 2009.
