AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of rates charged by Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo for
electric, lights and air conditioning during Hurricane Ike activation of pet friendly shelter facility. The
rates billed were $27.00 per hour for electric/lights, and $80.00 per hour for Air Conditioning during
September 7-8,2008.
ITEM BACKGROUND: This rate was requested by Miami-Dade Fair and Exposition, a private
company, who, at the request of Monroe County, through the Miami-Dade Office of Emergency
Management, provided their facility to Monroe County for use as a Pet Shelter.

A pet friendly shelter is being opened atthe Miami-Dade County Sunshine Pavilion, located at 10901 S.W. 24th Street, on the
grounds of the Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition. Miami-Dade Police and personnel from the Miami-Dade Animal Services
a-re on scene preparing the shelter to recieve evacuees and their pets.
