RESOLUTION NO. 151 -2024
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE 7-MILE
BRIDGE FROM 6:00 A.M. TO 9:00 A.M. ON THE 5'DAY OF APRIL 2025.
WHEREAS, The Marathon Runners Club, Inc. annually sponsors the 7-Mile
Bridge Run in Marathon; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to temporarily close the 7-Mile Bridge from 6:00 AM
to 9:00 AM for the Run; and
WHEREAS, the 7-Mile Bridge Run has thousands of participants and benefits
our local youth; and
WHEREAS, F.S. 337.406(1) authorizes the County to issue permits for
temporary use and closure of U.S. 1 if the use will not interfere with the safe and efficient
movement of traffic, will cause no danger to the public, and is necessary; and
WHEREAS, The Florida Department of Transportation has requested the
Monroe County also authorize the closure as stated herein; now,therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, hereby authorizes the closing of the 7-Mile
Bridge from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM for the 44th Annual 7-Mile Bridge Run sponsored by.
the Marathon Runners Club, Inc.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the April 17, 2024.
