RESOLUTION NO. 262-1986
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMIS-
SIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING
THE VARIOUS AGENCIES THAT HAVE JURISDICTION
OVER SUCH ACTIVITIES AS CONSTRUCTION OF
SEAWALLS AND PLACEMENT OF RIPRAP AND
CONSTRUCTION OF SEPTIC TANKS AND OTHER SEWAGE
TREATMENT/CONTROL SYSTEMS TO PLAN, ADOPT AND
IMPLEMENT COORDINATED STANDARDS OF REVIEW FOR
SUCH ACTIVITIES WITH MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, citizens planning to develop real property in
Monroe County, Florida, by (1) constructing seawalls and placing
riprap to prevent erosion and by (2) constructing septic tanks
and other sewage treatment/control systems are facing divergent
standards set by the various agencies, including the United
States Army Corps of Engineers, the Florida Department of
Environmental Regulation, the Florida Department of Natural
Resources, the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative
Services and Monroe County, Florida, with jurisdiction over such
activities, and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of
Monroe County, Florida, that the applicable agencies' review be
consistent and complimentary to each other, rather than "at odds"
with each other, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that said Board hereby requests the
United States Army Corps of Engineers, the Florida Department of
Environmental Regulation, the Florida Department of Natural
Resources, and the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilita-
tive Services to plan, adopt and implement coordinated standards
of review with Monroe County, Florida, for (1) construction of
seawalls and placement of riprap to prevent erosion and for (2)
construction of septic tanks and other sewage treatment/control
systems.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 22nd day of Augus~, A.D. 1986.
