RESOLUTION NO. 274 -1986
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMIS-
SIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING
THE INCLUSION OF THE KEY WEST SALT PONDS ON
THE LIST OF PROPERTIES TO BE CONSIDERED FOR
PURCHASE BY THE STATE OF FLORIDA UNDER THE
PROVISIONS OF THE CONSERVATION AND RECREATION
LANDS (CARL) PROGRAM ON A VOLUNTARY BASIS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Key West Salt Ponds provide one of the only
remaining natural areas within the City of Key West, and
WHEREAS, the Salt Ponds are of great ecological,
recreational and educational value to the entire State of Florida
and are important nursery areas for many varieties of commercial
and sport fish species, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, that said Board hereby supports the
inclusion of the Key West Salt Ponds on the list of properties to
be considered for purchase by the State of Florida under the pro-
visions of the Conservation and Recreation Lands (CARL) Program
on a voluntary basis.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that this Resolution
shall go into effect immediately upon its passage and adoption
and authentication by the signature of the presiding Mayor and
the Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 5th
