RESOLUTION NO. 199-1987
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT ALL SEPTIC TANK
PROBLEMS AND PERMITTING IN MONROE COUNTY BE
REMOVED FROM THE HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE
SERVICES AND TRANSFERRED TO THE DEPARTMENT OF
ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS.
WHEREAS, the issuance of septic tank permits and other
septic tank related problems now rests with the Health and
Rehabilitative Services, and
WHEREAS, it is the judgment of the Mayor and County Commis-
sion of Monroe County that a transfer of this handling by HRS to
the DER will be more compatible with the problems that arise
concerning septic tanks and their issuance, and
WHEREAS, Monroe County is desirous of a system whereby
septic tank approvals and permits and other related problems can
be handled in an orderly and expeditiously fashion and it is the
understanding and belief of the Mayor and County Commission of
Monroe County that by transfer of such jurisdiction to the
Department of Environmental Regulation such desires would be
accomplished, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. That the jurisdiction of the Health and Rehabilitative
Services concerning the issuance of septic tank permits and other
problems relating to septic tanks be and the same transferred to
the Department of Environmental Regulations.
2. That in such transfer the problems relating to septic
tank permitting and other septic tank questions can be greatly
accelerated and handled more expeditiously for both the State and
the citizens of Monroe County.
3. That the Clerk of the Board is hereby instructed to
forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Department of
Health and Rehabilitative Services and the Department of Environ-
mental Regulations.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 1'114- day of May, A. D. 1987.
