Resolution 321-1987 County Commissioners RESOLUTION NO. 321-1987 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSION- ERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY ENGINEER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR A FLORIDA RECREATION DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM GRANT FOR THE PURPOSE OF REPAIR OF THE HIGGS BEACH PIER AND FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A BICYCLE PATH AT HIGGS BEACH, KEY WEST, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, Monroe County has officially adopted local compre- hensive plan, including a recreation and open space element, pursuant to the local government comprehensive planning act of 1975 (Chapter 163.3161 F.S.), and all segments of the public were offered an opportunity to participate in the planning process leading to the adoption of the document; and WHEREAS, Monroe County has an on-going program of public participation which encourages involvement by all segments of the population within its jurisdiction, including minority and disadvantaged citizens, in the planning for and selection of recreation projects; and WHEREAS, Monroe County has committed the required program matching contribution to the proposed project which will remain available until needed; and WHEREAS, Monroe County is in a fiscally and legally respon- sible position to satisfactorily develop, or acquire and develop, operate and maintain the project site in accordance with the program requirements; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: The County Engineer is authorized to submit to the Florida Department of Natural Resources an application for a Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program Grant in the amount of $115,149.00 for the purpose of repair of the Higgs Beach Pier and for construction of a bicycle path at Higgs Beach, Key West, Florida. The total cost of the Higgs Beach Pier Bicycle Path Project shall be $172,725.00, with Monroe County supplying matching funds of $57,576.00 to be paid out of either the Tourist Development Tax Fund or General Revenues. The liaison agent for the proj ect shall be Tom Brown, County Administrator of Monroe County, Florida.
