RESOLUTION NO. 430-1987
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMIS-
SIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING
TO FUNDING AND IMPROVEMENTS FOR HIGGS BEACH
PIER IN MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNTY COMMISSION OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1. That the sum of One Hundred Thousand Dollars
($100,000), to be appropriated from the monies remitted to the
County by the County Tax Collector, be made available to be used
to start the bidding and construction process for improvements to
the Higgs Beach Pier.
Section 2. That grant applications are being made for funds
to utilize in making improvements to the Higgs Beach Pier, and in
this regard, if said funds do become available, that the same
shall be first used to replace the One Hundred Thousand Dollars
($100,000) mentioned in the above paragraph.
Section 3. That the proper County administrative authori-
ties are hereby called upon to ascertain if any monies are
available from the Tourist Development Council to be used to
support the purposes herein expressed, and in this regard, said
administrative authorities are hereby instructed to proceed with
a petition or a request to the Tourist Development Council and to
do so in accordance with the Tourist Development Council's
procedures.
Section 4.
That the Public Works Department of Monroe
County, Florida, is hereby directed to erect a sign at the Higgs
Beach Pier project site to inform the public that the project is
in progress and is being done for the use of the citizens of
Monroe County, Florida.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 17th day of November, A.D. 1987.
