RESOLUTION NO. 488 -1987
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT
APPLICATION TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL
RESOURCES FOR PASS-THROUGH FEDERAL FUNDS FROM THE LAND
AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND FOR THE ACQUISITION OF
APPROXIMATELY FIVE ACRES OF LAND IN BIG PINE KEY, SAID
LAND TO BE USED FOR AN OUTDOOR RECREATION AREA, AND
DIRECTING THE EXECUTION OF THE SAME BY THE PROPER
COUNTY AUTHORITIES.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
That Monroe County has identified a piece of property along
Key Deer Boulevard, which is currently offered for sale, situate
directly across from the existing Watson Ball Field, and that
funds are available for the purchase of this property from the
Florida Department of Natural Resources, and the proper County
officials are hereby authorized to enter into an application to
seek these funds and that the sum of said grant application shall
not exceed $160,000 and will be legally responsible for implemen-
tation of this project;
That the name of the project shall be the Big Pine Key
Outdoor Recreation area;
That the total project costs shall be $160,000, $80,000 of
which is designated in the Monroe County Capital Improvement
Fund;
That the liaison officer for this proj ect shall be the
Monroe County Grants Manager;
That Monroe County maintains a Comprehensive Plan which
contains a recreation and open space element and maintains an
ongoing public participation process.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 15th day of December, A.D. 1987.
