Resolution 176-1987 Commissioner Gene Lytton RESOLUTION NO. 176-1987 WHEREAS, there has always been a military presence within the Monroe County community, and WHEREAS, many of our relatives over the many years and many wars have volunteered for military service when duty called, and WHEREAS, a large segment of our present population is comprised of veterans who faithfully served in defense of country and our democratic form of government, and WHEREAS, history and mankind have too often forgotten, in times of peace and prosperity, those who still vigilantly await any required call to defense, and WHEREAS, it behooves history and mankind to periodically recall and express appreciation for those called to defense, NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, does hereby declare, throughout the entire reach of its authority, and does hereby proclaim Saturday, the 16th day of May, 1987, as ARMED FORCES DAY in all of Monroe County, Florida and does hereby commend to all its citizens formal recognition and participation in this observance, and I hereunto affix my official signature and seal of Monroe County, Florida, this 21st day of April, A.D. 1987.
